Job Summary:
The Core network operations manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations, performance, and maintenance of the service providers core network infrastructure. This includes IP/MPLS, switching, and routing systems. The role ensures high network availability, service quality, and operational efficiency while managing a team of network engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations and monitoring of the core network infrastructure (IP/MPLS, transmission, L2/L3 switches, routers, etc.).
- Ensure 24x7 network uptime, capacity planning, and proactive fault detection and resolution.
- Manage network incidents, escalations, RCA documentation, and implement preventive measures.
- Coordinate with planning, engineering, field operations, and vendor teams for network upgrades and expansions.
- Oversee network changes, configuration management, and ensure adherence to change management policies.
- Drive automation, monitoring enhancements, and operational improvements.
- Maintain network KPIs and ensure SLA compliance for internal and customer-facing services.
- Mentor and guide a team of network engineers/analysts and conduct periodic performance reviews.
- Manage vendor relationships and evaluate hardware/software performance.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements for core network operations.
