    Job Summary:

     

    The Core network operations manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations, performance, and maintenance of the service providers core network infrastructure. This includes IP/MPLS, switching, and routing systems. The role ensures high network availability, service quality, and operational efficiency while managing a team of network engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

     

     

    Key Responsibilities:

     

    Lead day-to-day operations and monitoring of the core network infrastructure (IP/MPLS, transmission, L2/L3 switches, routers, etc.).

    Ensure 24x7 network uptime, capacity planning, and proactive fault detection and resolution.

    Manage network incidents, escalations, RCA documentation, and implement preventive measures.

    Coordinate with planning, engineering, field operations, and vendor teams for network upgrades and expansions.

    Oversee network changes, configuration management, and ensure adherence to change management policies.

    Drive automation, monitoring enhancements, and operational improvements.

    Maintain network KPIs and ensure SLA compliance for internal and customer-facing services.

    Mentor and guide a team of network engineers/analysts and conduct periodic performance reviews.

    Manage vendor relationships and evaluate hardware/software performance.

    Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements for core network operations.

     

    Qualifications and Skills:

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Telecommunications/Computer Science or related field .

    8–12 years of experience in telecom or ISP core network operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

    Strong technical knowledge of IP/MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VRF, Ethernet technologies, and NMS tools.

    Experience with major OEMs like Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Huawei, etc.

    ITIL certification or familiarity with ITIL processes is a plus.

    Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

    Ability to work under pressure in a 24x7 operational environment.

    Transmission (DWDM/SDH) skills will be an added advantage.
